Public Meeting on Flathead Lake Club Development
On Wednesday, August 13, the Flathead County Planning Board will reconvene to consider a major subdivision proposal with significant implications for the Flathead watershed.
What’s on the agenda?
A request from Flathead Friends, LLC, with engineering support from 406 Engineering, Inc. and Kimley Horn & Associates, Inc., for preliminary plat approval of the Flathead Lake Club — a 1,700-acre development just south of Lakeside along Highway 93.
🔹 Project Details:
359 residential lots + 7 commercial lots
Development spread across 5 phases
Sewer service to be provided by the Lakeside Water & Sewer District, whose expansion is currently facing legal challenges
The developer will build a private water system, eventually turning it over to the District after each phase
Two highway access points and a full network of internal subdivision roads
You can review the full application and documents here.
Why This Matters
The scale and location of this development raise serious concerns about:
Wastewater management
Stormwater runoff and erosion
Water quality impacts to Flathead Lake and its tributaries
