Biography: Steve Rosso

Steve RossoSteve Rosso grew up in Michigan, spending his summers on and around the smaller lakes and Great Lakes in the Northwest Lower Peninsula. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in engineering mechanics from Michigan Technological University on Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula. After college he moved to Utah and started a high-tech engineering business with two partners. Steve also worked part-time with the Alta Ski Area as a patroller and avalanche control advisor.

As much as he loved the mountains and spring in the desert, Steve missed his time on and around the water. He and his wife, Arla, started spending summer vacations on Flathead Lake in 1977. They purchased their property on Table Bay in 1990 and joined the Flathead Lakers in the early 1990s. After 27 years in the Salt Lake Valley, Steve and Arla sent their youngest of three children off to college, sold the engineering business and made Flathead Lake their year-around home in 2001.

Steve is very involved in the Lakeside/Rollins community as an EMT with the Lakeside Quick Response Unit, board member of the Flathead Lake Protection Association, board member of the North Shore Nordic Club, and is currently serving on the Lake County Planning Board. As an avid skier in the winter, bicyclist and sailor in the summer, Steve spends a large amount of his time outdoors. He is very interested in environmental and land use planning issues, and appreciates having an opportunity as a Lakers Director to make a bigger difference protecting the water quality in Flathead Lake and the surrounding watershed.
